Even building up the guards. <3 Wish I could do some field work with others, but you need a degree for anything close to this. Why does it take a degree to find and document nests? To do the physical work? I would love to do this, especially for barn owls, but can't get the degree. :(

Great video Cali of their shenanigans, like you mentioned. So humorous to watch both of them. All the questions we have about it all,us just being the observer right? Is he actually trying to build another nest? Is he just seeing if it will work? He is just stock piling to have a nice supply of sticks just in case he needs one in a moment’s notice? Is it just for practice or just for fun? I think last night you mentioned that is not a great location to try and build a nest. It’s all definitely entertaining for us, we love them so much! This tree looks like it is even more open to the elements than previous nesting tree. The wind and piles of snow were unbelievable. And Jackie trying to protect her eggs while literally being blanketed in snow. New nesting spot seems very odd to me....Cali, can u offer any explanation... .

Hi Cali! Hypothetical question: What would happen if J&S had 2 viable nests in the same territory and Jackie managed to lay egg(s) in each nest? If that were to happen would they only concentrate on just the 1 nest or try to care for the egg(s) in both nests? Thanks!

Shadow’s been trying to start a nest there, probably since before we could watch him do it. It’s his hobby, I think. And then in Oct-Nov, he has a lovely stick depot supply for the egg nest.❤️🦅🦅

Like most here, I wish that at least one of the eggs would've been viable. Shadow is a great provider & was a loving daddy to Spirit!!! I think, I'm no expert, that he's bored & needs to keep himself busy. Breaks my heart when it seems like he's still looking for the eggs 😞 Hopefully next time!!!! 🙏🙏🥚🥚🦅🦅❤️❤️

Perhaps they are building a nest as a Parent's Sanctuary or a place that subadult offspring can move to as they separate from their parents? Since I have never seen a bald eagle build a nest in a tree from its inception I am so happy to see this endeavor happen. I would imagine that every gigantic nest starts with a lot of falling sticks while trying to assemble the bottom frame. It makes perfect sense. Once they get the bottom portion to lock in then building upon that will get easier. Good job, S & J!!!

I wonder if they are building a new nest. Maybe the old nest is indeed full of something bad on the eggs. But this spot the sticks all fall down. Is there another branch they could try? Harriet and M15 built a nest within 10 days after the hurricanel

I think Jackie was asking him "What are you up to at the nest?" He sure is determined to try to build another one, but… sadly… it's a poor choice. Not enough base, and no canopy overhead, just a great view!

I look at this cam this morning I seen all this live and devotion but by nightfall where jackie and shadow are always together at night only one was there this morning no chatters only one was there alone plz plz tell me that this is not the last time I will see them together all day togetherness a concern comes upon my heart this morning I'm searching for peace of mind love you Jackie and Shadow but where are you plz let my concerns b wrong plz ❤❤❤
